Abstract

This paper clarifies Severini's perspective as the method of composing his paintings. This clarification is attained by investigations of Severini's “Du Cubisme au Classicisme”and the analysis of his painting to which the perspective is applied. The conclusions are the followings. 1) He uses the perspective as the method of giving depth to paintings with proportional relations. 2) He uses the perspective with other methods that are geometrical diagrams and proportional divisions of paintings. 3) The perspective is used following this geometrical diagrams and proportional divisions which define the composition of his paintings in advance.
