Abstract

The efficacy of febantel combination drug treatment was evaluated in clinical cases of dogs infected withStrongyloides sp. A single oral dose of febantel at 15 mg/kg of body weight was only 50.0%(2/4) effective ineradicating first-stage larvae of Strongyloides sp. in the feces.A second administration of the same dose failedto improve in the efficacy.In contrast, oral administration of febantel at a dose of 15 mg/kg of body weightonce daily for three connective days was 63.6%(7/11) effective against Strongyloides sp. infection in dogs.Asecond administration of the same dose in non-effective cases for three connective days was 50%(2/4) effective, giving a total efficacy of this protocol of 81.8%(9/11).
