Abstract

Dry gas cleaning system for impurities removal is required for efficient power generation with biomass gasification technology. A pilot scale dry gas cleaning plant was constructed to demonstrate the performance of multiple impurities removal from biomass derived gas produced by biomass gasifier. Sufficient performance for impurities removal was attained with hydrated lime injected bag filter, copper based mercury sorbent, glass fiber reinforced halide sorbent and zinc oxide sulfur sorbent. The purified biomass derived gas was available for stable power generation with molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC). This result demonstrated that the dry gas cleaning system satisfied the performance requirement for the biomass gasification power generation system.
