Abstract

There is a saying that "Without grammar very little can be conveyed, without vocabulary nothing can be conveyed." We think of vocabulary as simply memorizing meanings, and we have never needed a methodology to learn vocabularies. Although the curriculum at all educational institutes also mention that vocabulary education requires explicit teaching methods, in reality, vocabulary education is left to the individual students. In the case of native languages, a large amount of vocabulary can be acquired without specific knowledge. However, vocabulary in foreign language education has to have a teaching method which is an essential factor that must be considered because of cultural aspects. In the Department of Korean as a Foreign Language, vocabulary is often said to be more important than anything, including grammar. Also, because of the appearance of the IV(Industrial Revolution), I would like to present some successful methods of vocabulary learning in Spain, which has proved its effectiveness by rapidly applying information and communication technologies to education, using various educational platforms in the field of education. Conclusively, I will first present the perception of vocabulary education in Korea and Spain. Secondly, I will elaborate on how we have been learning vocabulary until now that will change our perception of vocabulary education that has not been investigated much in Korea. Finally, I will propose a suitable vocabulary learning method for today.
