Based on this, a total of 240 preliminary items were produced. 6 counseling experts evaluated content validity and selected 120 items. Pilot tests were conducted on 243 2nd, 3rd graders from 5 elementary schools. Based on the results some items were revised, and some items were deleted. As a result, a total of 96 items were selected. Next, main test was conducted on 1,333 2nd, 3rd graders of 17 elementary schools. 72 final items were selected by verifying reliability, construct validity, and criterion validity. Results Reliability coefficients for each strength ranged from .60 to .78, which was satisfactory. The result of hierarchical confirmatory factor analysis is that the RMSEA is .049. The path coefficient between latent variable and measurement variable was .41 to .99, and all factor loads were significant. In addition, the criterion validity was also verified because character strengths, life satisfaction, self-esteem, social support, and school adaptation showed a positive correlation. Conclusions A character strength scale for the lower grades of elementary school was developed, in which reliability, construct validity, and criterion validity were verified through systematic procedures and methods by collecting data from elementary school children in various cities and provinces across the country.
