Abstract

Occupational eye injuries are the leading reasons of ocular traumas that can result in vision loss. To avoid such injuries it is important to increase awareness about work-related accidents. However, even to witness the bad results of the splashing of a foreign body into the eye, may not be enough to encourage people to take precautions. In this study medical records of 3 cases that belong to the same family and working at the same place who admitted to our clinic because of penetrating eye injury and intraocular foreign body, were analyzed in terms of the type of injury, ophthalmologic examination findings, surgical treatment and results. The state of consciousness of the society about the measures to be taken against occupational accidents was questioned, and the prevention methods to avoid vission loss due to such injuries were discussed.
