Abstract
IB PYP is a program that implements concept- and inquiry-based education within a transdisciplinary approach. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the IB PYP educational contents framework provided by IBO to support the school curriculum and unit design of IB schools and to explore their implications. For this purpose, ‘scope and sequence’ documents for each subject corresponding to the educational contents framework of PYP were analyzed. As a result of the study, social studies and science framework are presented in a form that can implement transdisciplinary integration. On the other hand, language and mathematics are framework that promote PYP inquiry, and arts and personal, social and physical education (PSPE) enrich transdisciplinary learning and take into consideration the personal and social well-being and health of learners. There is a difference in the way of approaching the educational contents framework. Finally, supporting a framework for the realization of transdisciplinary curriculum integration, refocusing on the role of each subject from a transdisciplinary perspective, suggesting key concepts that can connect subjects and implement concept-based instruction, and presenting conceptual understanding and central ideas in order to transfer what has been learned to other learning and life are derived and discussed as implications.
