Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the ethnospecific features of verbalization of the ЦIЫХУХЪУ (MAN) concept in the Adyghe linguistic worldview. The work is novel in that it is the first to study in a comprehensive manner the ethnospecific representation of the ЦIЫХУХЪУ (MAN) concept in the Kabardian language using the material of the lexical, phraseological, paremiological stock of the modern Kabardian language. The paper analyzes all levels of the language system involved in the implementation of the ethnospecific semantics of the ЦIЫХУХЪУ (MAN) concept in the Adyghe linguistic worldview, in addition, the evaluative semantics of the linguistic units taking part in the formation of the conceptual sphere of the ЦIЫХУХЪУ (MAN) concept is examined. The research findings have shown that in the Adyghe linguistic worldview, the conceptual sphere of the gender lexeme ЦIЫХУХЪУ (MAN) is quite voluminous. There are no special affixes in the language under consideration that serve as an indicator of male professions, the type of men’s activities and men’s appearance. The set expressions of the modern Kabardian language verbalizing the concept under study possess both positive and negative connotations. However, the ethnic lexeme адыгэлI ‘an Adyghe man’ represents only positive semantics.
