Abstract

View of improvement of Quality of life (QOL) for senior citizens, implant treatment that embed prosthesis into a living body has advanced as a method of treating for deterioration or a lesion part. Recently, addition of Hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2, HAp) coatings onto titanium alloy has been developed to reduce duration of treatment and improve strength of treated part. However, adhesion property between such coatings / substrates isn't well known. The purpose of this study is to establish evaluation method of adhesion property for such coatings system. Some scratch tests that were varied scratch loading conditions were carried out for plasma-sprayed HAp coatings. As the results, valuable knowledge about the influence of the indenter indentation rate onto the scratch damage behavior was obtained. In addition, evaluation of adhesion in the case of immersing into physiological saline solution was conducted to discuss the influence of immersion onto coating adhesion.
