Abstract

In LTE system, it is still a challenge for e-NodeB to perform resource block (RB) allocation and scheduling. So far, most of the previous works focus on maximizing the system throughput or achieving fairness among User Equipments (UEs). However, allocating RBs without considering the data rate requested by UEs or granted by call admission control (CAC) would make the demand and supply not balance. The Allocate As Granted (AAG) scheme proposed in literature, performs well in terms of satisfaction degree and system throughput. However, there are still some problems with it. In this thesis, some functions and options are added to improve the existing AAG. The main contributions of this thesis are as follows: 1. After a UE has established connections, the transmission speed is usually not constant, i.e., it is bursty. This thesis explores the characteristic corresponding to maximum burst size. 2. Usually, a UE not only establishes GBR bearers, but also non-GBR bearers. This thesis explores how to allocated RBs for both GBR bearer and non-GBR bearer at the same time. 3. According to the 3GPP specifications, an eNodeB informs the allocation result to UEs every 10ms. Currently, 3GPP does not specify how frequently to re-allocate RBs. The impact of re-allocating frequency is explored in this thesis. 4. The impact of AAG parameters is explored. For example, this thesis discusses how to select parameter alfa, the input pattern and data rate.
