Abstract
Insects have been used in crime investigations for several centuries in China (Gennard, 2007; Greenberg and Kunich, 2002; McKnight, 1981). However, forensic entomology did not reach Europe until the early 1800s, with insect evidence being presented in court for the rst time in Britain in 1935. From these roots, forensic entomology has grown into a vibrant and fast-paced eld of research, with insect evidence currently being used and accepted in courts in most parts of the world.
