Abstract
En República II y III, Platón analiza el concepto de ψεῦδος (“falsedad o mentira”) y afirma que en algunas circunstancias es conveniente la utilización de lo que denomina ἐν τοῖς λόγοις ψεῦδος. El trabajo examina los argumentos para defender la aceptabilidad de recurrir a la falsedad, señala la distinción de niveles entre una verdad fáctica y una verdad normativa y muestra semejanzas entre el ψεῦδος de República y el discurso verosímil (εἰκὸς λόγος) en el Timeo.
