Abstract

The morphological similarity bones of zooarchaeological as-semblage Capreolus/Ovis/Capra makes it difficult to differentiate between them. The researches on the morphology of skeletal elements basipodium, metapodiums and palanxs have been made in order to determine differences in roe deer, Capreolus pygargus, and domestic sheep, Ovis aries. Specimens were taken from several archaeological sites on the territory of Southern Siberia and hand osteological collections. Features are presented as determinant table to distinguish between bones of the postcranial skeleton of the two species. The macrotaxonomical value of distinguishing features is discussed.
