Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the Brexit concept features in the English media texts. The objective of this work is to describe the research concept as being formed and widely spread in the contemporary English media discourse. Scientific novelty is conditioned by insufficient knowledge of the process of the formation and spreading of the concepts of this discourse type. The analysis of the peculiarities of the textual actualization of the studied concept in the English media is carried out. Particular attention is paid to the conceptual metaphors that help to understand and express the Brexit concept in English. The obtained results testify, firstly, to the dynamic nature of the semantic structure of the concept under study, and secondly, to the purposeful modification of this structure by the authors of the media texts, conditioned by the intention to influence the perception and understanding of political events by the recipients.
