Abstract

Modern Companies / Organizations, operating in the very demanding “Industry 4.0” International Environment, are obliged to satisfy multiple needs, of various commercial and governmental partners. Business Operations’ Management, through Digital Innovation and the selection of appropriate technologies, is a field of multiple discussions and experimentation for different Business Sectors. Among the most dominant modern business strategies, of utmost importance is the need for complete, integer, unique, and undisputable business data and metadata that lead to the best satisfaction of customer needs and reliable management decisions. Blockchain Technology came to the forefront years ago as the Cryptocurrency Implementation Platform (e.g., Bitcoin), but only recently has its application been evaluated in a broader, strategic business context to ensure the above-mentioned integrity. This Dissertation, from a Business Strategy perspective and the adoption of Business Innovation Culture, Sustainability, and Processes’ Traceability Verification, examines the Businesses’ Operations Management through Blockchain Technology. It highlights and proves that Global Business Standards are the catalyst for the broad, interoperable application of Blockchain Technology across multiple companies, sectors, and processes, combined with other, expanded disruptive innovations. For an optimal, realistic understanding of the above advantages, it analyzes in-depth the traditional Maritime Industry Operations’ digital transformation. Finally, through specific Proposals, it presents, generally, courses of action to streamline obstacles and specific ways of adopting a strategic innovation culture through Business Synergies, such as the adoption of a Holistic Blockchain Business Transaction and Process Management Network, but also specific actions to optimize Maritime Operations, not only for Liner but also for Bulk Cargo (Tramp) Trade. Finally, the research conclusions and the Global Economy and Business Environment future challenges are stressed out, according to the author’s point of view.
