Abstract
This paper attempts to examine syntactic and semantic properties of ‘N-hada’ in Korean and apply them to ‘Be Adjectives(N-hada)’ in English similar to their Korean meaning, based on their semantic features. Some Korean researchers analyzed that ‘hada’ in ‘N-hada’ takes a grammatical role of Verb or Adjective depending on its preceding noun. However, I tried to explain this based on the agreement of feature between preceding nouns and ‘-ha/da’ unlike their explanations. In addition, there are syntactic and semantic feature differences between the same ‘Be Adjectives(N-hada)’ structures in meaning as English. As we can explain syntactic properties between the same ‘N-hada’ structures in Korean, I tried to show that we can explain syntactic and semantic differences between the same ‘N-hada’in the semantic structures as English on the basis of the agreement of features between ‘Be Adjectives.’
