Abstract

The study of the materials from an ultraoligotrophic lake Elgygytgyn has revealed Asterionella ralfsii, a member of diatoms rare to the flora of Russia. Ranges of variability of its main quantitative diagnostic features (valve length and width, striae number in 10 μm) differ considerably from those registered in populations from Europe, USA and Japan. The obtained data testify to a wider morphological variability of A. ralfsii and its geographical range.
