Abstract
Introduction: Biosafety is the set of actions that promote the prevention, elimination and minimization of risks inherent to the procedures for research, teaching, production, technological development and services, targeting the health of humans, animals, preserve the environment and quality of results. However, the specialist surgeon- dentist or not, has little concern about the infections in his office, especially in orthodontic clinics because of the belief to have low risk of contamination by not come into contact with substances such as blood. Purpose: Conduct a survey of practices of biosafety, through a questionnaire applicable, the professional specialists in Orthodontics working in the city of Belem-Para. Methodology: through the implementation of previously prepared a questionnaire, containing 16 questions on the closed adoption of the biosecurity measures in a sample of 20 surgeons, dentists orthodontists randomly selected within a universe of credentialed professionals in the Regional Council of Dentistry - section PA , Aims to achieve a comprehensive and complete analysis about the methods of biosecurity used in clinics for such professionals in the city of Belem-Para. Result: There is great vulnerability of this class dental possible risks facing the physical-chemical-biological, even with 50% already casualties at some point. Conclusion: We found that despite the adoption of some effective measures for biosecurity, there is need for intensified preventive procedures prior to seeking the security of your professional and patient.
