Abstract

The purpose of the study is to determine the features of the student community’s development at one of the oldest Russian pedagogical universities in the 1960s during scientific and technological revolution. The article examines the main aspects of student life at that time, studies contribution of students of Gorky State Pedagogical Institute named after A. M. Gorky (GSPI named after A. M. Gorky) to social life development in the country. The study is novel in that it introduces into scientific use new historical sources, including documents stored in Nizhny Novgorod’s archives - the State Socio-Political Archives of Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Central Archives of Nizhny Novgorod Region. As a result, the author reconstructed the history of the student community at GSPI named after A. M. Gorky in the 1960s, which is an important step in studying the history of the Soviet student community.
