Abstract

We live in 4th industrial revolution, where all sectors, from public services to freight companies, are being digitized. The technology that will contribute to this revolution is 5G. The 5G network is the evolution of the 4G network which allows: transfer of more data, in a larger bandwidth, with zero latency and greater security. The new 5th generation network will change vertical sectors, such as the automotive, industry, media, energy, health, public safety and smart cities. For example, users will have more features and applications, such as sharing high definition content, from a fixed or mobile point. The cars will become semi-autonomous. The surgeries will be performed remotely, etc. In the following work we will report the changes brought about by 5G technologies in all the above areas and more extensively in those in the field of Media. Also mentioned are some platforms for setting up IoT devices and 5G networks. A real implementation using sensors and some measurements from 4G terminals is presented. Finally, the situation in Europe and Greece is presented, the official view of the WHO , if 5G technology is dangerous and the hypothetical scenarios regarding the configuration of 6G are mentioned.
