Abstract

Objective. To study the epidemiological background and provide clinical and laboratory characteristics of a new coronavirus infection in patients of middle working age. Materials and Methods. A retrospective analysis of 30 inpatient records of patients who were inpatient treatment from March to August 2020 at the Regional Infectious Diseases Clinical Hospital in Tyumen with a diagnosis of “New coronavirus infection” was carried out. By gender, the patients were divided into two groups: group I – males (50%, n = 15), group II – females (50%, n = 15). The average age of patients in the sample was 49 ± 3.8 years. The diagnosis, in all patients, was confirmed by the isolation of Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 RNA by PCR from the nasopharynx and oropharynx. Patients had a history of various concomitant chronic diseases: bronchial asthma, COPD, arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus. Results. When analyzing group I (males), they are more prone to the incidence of a new coronavirus infection, and have suffered a new coronavirus infection in a severe degree due to comorbid pathology, the presence of chronic diseases (COPD, arterial hypertension) and predisposing factors (smoking, non-compliance mask regime, contact with patients suspected of COVID-19, hypothermia, and as for group II (female persons), the tolerance of the new coronavirus infection is much easier, but among chronic diseases type 2 diabetes mellitus and bronchial asthma were noted. Connection. Thus, in male patients of middle working age, among the predisposing factors contributing to the development of a new coronavirus infection, one can distinguish: non-observance of the mask regimen, contact with patients suspicious of COVID-19 (at work, in shops, public transport and healthcare facilities), hypothermia and stay in the draft and smoking, while among the predisposing factors among females, contacts with patients suspected of COVID-19 (with children attending school and / or kindergarten), non-observance of the mask regime were identified.
