Abstract

The purpose of this research is to clarify the process of transformation in framing of the traditional timber houses in the area of Rokuseicho, Ishikawa prefecture. This paper deals with correlation between main frame and roof frame, through the typological analysis of load transfer from roof section to main frame. In case of Sasugumi, roof load was mostly transferred to outside frame either directly on outside girders or indirectly through beams called "Sashimono". In case of changing roof frame or building new frame, the balanced composition with roof posts distributes roof load evenly to various part of main frame.
