Abstract

Three cases of so-called mucin-producing tumor were reported. On duodenoscopy, swollen major papilla with production of mucin from a dilated orifice were found in all cases, and in one case duodenal membrane invaded by the tumor showing a lotus nut like holes filled with mucinous material. Pathological diagnosis revealed various histological feature, namely papillary adenocarcinoma with mucinous appearance, mucin-producing cystoadenocarcinoma and adenocarcinoma with mucinous stromama. Regarding to the establishment of diagnosis, cytology of pure pancreatic juice in one case and percutaneous needle aspiration under ultrasonographic control in one case were respectively usefull. So-called mucin-producing tumor of the pancreas is clinical diagnosis. As things are, the category consists of various histological features. In future the category needs to be put in order.
