Abstract

The species aggregate of Festuca ovina L. (sensu latissimo) contains a widespread diploid species F. ovina s. str. (2n=14) and some tetraploid taxa (2n=28) distributed in South Siberia: F. sphagnicola B. Keller (Altai, West and East Sayan Mts) and F. vylzaniae (E. B. Alexeev) Tzvelev (sands on the eastern lakeside of Lake Baikal). A new tetraploid species, F. hircina Enustschenko et Prob. sp. nova (2n=28), is described from the western part of Baikal Siberia, where it occurs mostly on anthropogenic habitats.
