Abstract

There have been reported many empirical results about the error of Loran method, but they were mainly with respect to the error due to the "sky wave", not to the "ground wave". From the measurements by the use of the ground waves from 2H5 stations and from 2H6, and by the astronomical navigation, which were carried out in the area (139°E, 29°N), by the "Ojika", and from June 27th to July 13th in 1960, the auther compared values given by the former two method with those by the latter and obtained about 10μs error in each case. So he concludes that more precise investigations of the propagation of ground wave is desirable.
