Abstract

This article is intended to summarize the research trends of the Goryeo Dynasty, which were published from 2017 to 2018. Goryeo society’s nature was focused, and there were many studies that emphasize pluralism and specifically examine pluralistic aspects. It is also connected to the View of the World and fluctuations in the kingship, which were important part of the description of foreign affairs. There were still many studies on the history of relations with the Yuan and Ming Dynasty in the late Goryeo Dynasty. In ritual studies, diplomatic rite studies increased. The tendency of research to focus on relations with China and late Goryeo history was confirmed during this two years. An increase in the study of the history of individual regions is also noted. However, it is regrettable that it is difficult to find a tendency for research or discourse to be developed into a fierce debate, which attempts to take a macroscopic approach to the Goryeo Era from a large framework such as institutional history and socioeconomic history. Despite these regrets, re-examination of the land system, Buddhist Association, controversy over nobility and bureaucracy, etc. is being attempted, and an attempt to actively deal with the problems of continuity and disconnection of the end of the Goryeo and the Early of Jeseon is considered to be remarkable in future studies of the Goryeo Dynasty.
