Abstract

Interdisciplinary method in research and reconstruction of social relations in ancient cultures demands using terms of different academic fields, both old and newly developed. In this regard, in the 20th century foreign scholars attempted to draw up large explanatory dictionaries of Egyptological terms. In course of this investigation a frequency list for a collection of written academic texts, namely Center of Egyptological Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences reports for 2015–2018, was formed, which gave a basis for another frequency list — the one of the terms used. Analysis of this list in terms of semantic fields was conducted, while the entries of this list was studied in terms of their belonging to highly specialized or general academic lexicon. Terms used for describing patters and local peculiarities of interaction of social and cultural traditions and religious beliefs, as well as for describing perception of Egyptian culture and interaction of elite and mass cultures, was clarified.
