Abstract

A comparative analysis of the frequency of suicides in 5 regions of the Russian Federation was conducted in a single-stage retrospective study in order to study the impact of the abolition of general self-isolation and mitigation of other anti-epidemic measures on the suicidal activity of the population. The same regions where the suicidal situation during self-isolation was studied were selected for this study as well. Study periods: May 2020 (the period of the cancellation of general self-isolation), April 2020 (self-isolation period) and the quiet May of 2019. The study has shown that in May 2020 changes in the suicidal situation in the regions were different: from an increase to a decrease in the incidence of COVID-19. This implies the need for a differentiated and step-by-step approach to easing or lifting restrictive measures in the regions, taking into account the current epidemic situation and the possibilities of organizing anti-epidemic assistance.
