Abstract
The research aims to prove that B. Uzuner’s novel “Mediterranean Waltz” (1997), which is underpinned by various narrative techniques, has a complex and unusual compositional structure. The paper analyses the plot and compositional features of the novel (range of issues, narrative form, images and main motifs). Scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that B. Uzuner’s novelistic creative work for the first time becomes the object of analytical study in Russian Turkological literary criticism. As a result, it has been proved that B. Uzuner’s novel is close to the postmodernist metatext in its narrative structure, but it is based on constants that are fundamentally different from postmodernism (realistic images with deep psychological content, social issues, etc.). B. Uzuner’s novel opens new horizons in modern Turkish fiction.
