Abstract
This article is prepared on the basis of a collection of military letters and sources of personal origin collected under the “Unclaimed Memory” project at the Diaspora Center at Tel Aviv University. The project involves the search, collection, preservation and study of letters and other documents of family history, compilation of a scientific commentary, the creation of a database accessible to researchers and all who are interested in the history of the Second World War. Based on the results of this work, it is planned to create an archive of military correspondence, the publication of collections of letters and the preparation of scientific research.

Как я неожиданного узнала, что от тебя есть письма? Я помню, как в те ночи ты мне снился, я не думала, что когда-нибудь еще встречу тебя. И их горе, так называемое горе «чужих», нам тоже очень близко [...] Часто читаются письма, полученные из дома [...] Если в письме пришли плохие вести, то чувствуется, как все это переживают, и наоборот – если эти вести хорошие и радостные, то радостными и сияющими становятся лица всех. Как отцы-военнослужащие испытывали неловкость о того, что они хорошо были обеспечены по сравнению с гражданскими лицами. Я очень боюсь, что они голодны, а голод я сам не раз испытывал и знаю, как это трудно. Когда я получаю от тебя письмо, так я все уже знаю наизусть, но помочь ничего не могу, прямо хожу, как ненормальный человек, после получения твоих писем.
