Становлення й розвиток Центральної освітянської бібліотеки в структурі міністерства освіти УРСР (1922–1999)

Abstract

The study provides significant factual material on the history of the formation of the Central Educational Library (CEL), outlines the main directions of the library in the information sphere. The historical analysis of the formation and functioning of the CEL of Ukraine as an all-Ukrainian branch information center for the complete information support of the reform of national education is presented. It was found that the CEL was established in August 1993 on the basis of the Trade Union Pedagogical Library of the Kyiv City Teachers' City Hall. It was emphasized that the opening of the only educational library in Ukraine at that time was conditioned by the need for systematic informational and methodological support for the specialists of pedagogical science and education - scientists, teachers, students. The importance of establishing creative relations with educational publishers of Ukraine, with institutions dealing with problems of education, upbringing, science and culture was emphasized: higher educational establishments, regional institutes of advanced training of teachers of Ukraine, sectoral academies, charitable foundations, public organizations. The importance of establishing and maintaining links with international institutions, NGOs, and the Diaspora is emphasized. It was noted that the pedagogical councils of Kyiv schools on the basis of the reading room of the library became an innovation in the information activity of the CEL. It was noted that library staff provided consultations, developed methodological materials to assist Ukrainian school libraries, held all-Ukrainian conferences, participated in the development of legal documents for school libraries, represented educational libraries at international, all-Ukrainian congresses, conferences, etc. It has been proved that the CEL was important in improving the information structure of Ukraine's educational space.
