Abstract

The activities of the Swedish People's Party, its predecessor, the Swedish Party and the Svekomans movement as a whole, their role in the social and political life of the Grand Duchy of Finland remains a subject that has not previously fallen into the sphere of interests of domestic researchers, therefore it has not been studied and is a "blank spot" in history national political parties of Russia. Based on the above message, the purpose of this article is to analyze the activities of the Swedish People's Party during the revolution of 1905-1907. The article used historical, systemic, retrospective, comparative research methods. The article examines socio-political and state-legal, as well as interethnic relations between the Finns and the Swedish-speaking population, as prerequisites for the emergence of the Svekomans movement and the genesis of the Swedish People's Party, analyzes the ideological principles and theoretical provisions on the basis of which the Swedish People's Party was formed and its activities were built. To understand the stages of partogenesis of the Swedish People's Party, the article tells about the emergence of the Svekomans movement in the 60-70s of the 19th century and the activities of the Swedish Party, which emerged from the Svekomans and in 1906 was institutionalized into the Swedish People's Party. The article gives a description of the program provisions of the party, tells about the relationship of the Swedish People's Party in the internal party field of Finland with the ethnically Finnish political parties - the Old Finnish and Young Finnish parties. Considerable attention is paid to the relationship of the party with the Russian administration and the imperial government, the party's struggle against the integration of Finland into the Russian political space and the preservation of the dominance of the Swedish-speaking elite in the political life of the principality.
