Abstract

The paper aims to identify the forms and level of the Chinese involvement in the Russian-Japanese war of 1904-1905. The article considers the issue of the Bogdyhan Empire’s political, military and economic assistance to Japan and analyses changes in China’s political course conditioned by specificity of the military situation in Manchuria in 1904-1905. Scientific originality of the study involves analysing previously unpublished sources, which has allowed the author to reveal the level of the Chinese assistance to Japan and to identify changes in dynamics of the Chinese-Japanese cooperation in different periods of the Russian-Japanese war. The research findings are as follows: the basic factors that determined the Russian military strategy and tactics during the Russian-Japanese war are singled out.
