Whole Chinese open ports economic bloc was not incorporated into Modern world system at once. It took a long time and took on distinct characteristics in each bloc. Such a tendency was also applicable in sugar market. Then what did Chinese sugar market look like? Most export ports were located in Canton and Fujian, Most import ports were located in Jiangnan region and north China in modernizing period. Incidentally those area were hinterlands of open port that opened relatively early and they closely correlated with foreigner and costal trades.
