Abstract
This publication addresses the question of Chersonese’s entrance into the zone of influence of the Pontic Kingdom, according to the appearance of a new type of Chersonesian coins under the Pontic King Pharnakes I showing pro-Pontic iconography and the reverse image turned to the left. The conclusions shed light on a little-studied period in the history of Chersonese, which started from the peace treaty of 179 BC and lasted to the death of Pharnakes I (157 BC) with the subsequent assumption of power over Chersonese (156 BC) by the Syrian King Demetrios I Soter.
