Abstract

The author considers the psychological and pedagogical principles of the coach's work, which can have a positive or negative impact on the development of young athletes. The approach of the coach and the principles of work that guide him can have a positive or negative impact on the development of young athletes. Today, it is indisputable that a coach plays a significant role in the formation of a mentally and physically healthy person, with a high degree of development of motivational, moral, and volitional qualities necessary for a successful sports career and life in general. The paper presents a comprehensive review of the specifics of young athletes training with the identification of the basic principles of coaching of football players aged 13–14. Successful interaction in the «coach-athlete» relationships set is possible only if the professional activity of the coach is aimed not only at the improving of the physical, tactical and technical competence, but also at the shaping of the personality of young football players, taking into account the psychophysiological characteristics of their age group development.
