Abstract

In networks of 110 kV and higher, distant one-sided and two-sided methods based on the power system emergency state parameter are used for fault location on the transmission line with short circuit. Statistical data is an actual indicator of the accuracy of these methods, on the basis of which probability characteristics are built. The one-side method accuracy depends on the transient resistance at the site of short circuit. The use of software methods for a one-sided calculation of the fault location does not provide a significant increase in accuracy compared to fixing devices, emergency event recorders and digital relay protection. However, software two-side methods are more efficient. To reduce methodological errors, a transition to a single inspection zone independent of the line length is required.
