Abstract

Full scale measurements for heating and cooling load in the super-insulated and air-tightened houses, located in mild climate area, with imitative occupancies, lighting fixtures and household equipment were conducted in order to clarify the energy efficiency and the feasibility for the peak cut of the electric power consumed by air conditioners in a summer afternoon. Heat loads and electric power consumption of the air conditioners were compared between 4 dwellings with various building performance, built up in the same site. The first report of the research describes the outline of a experimental condotions, time schedule of heat gains, control system for imitative heat and humidity sources, measuring system and clarifies the seasonal cooling load reduction and feasibility for peak cutback of the electric power consumption of air conditioners, maintaining the comfort thermal condition, in super-insulated and air-tightened houses.
