Abstract

The study aims to introduce into scientific use the ceramic complex of the Karym stage of the Ob-Irtysh culture, obtained as a result of research conducted at the settlement of Vakhrushevskoye 1 in the Tobolsk Irtysh Land, as well as to identify its similarities and differences with the ware of the IV-V centuries AD from the taiga Ob-Irtysh Region. Scientific novelty of the paper lies in carrying out a primary systematisation of the obtained ceramic collection, its morphological analysis and comparison with the collection from the Kozlovsky burial ground, which is the canonical Karym site of the southern taiga Tobolsk Region, as well as with the single-culture settlement ceramics from the taiga Ob Region sites. As a result, the authors have concluded that the ceramics from the Kozlovsky burial ground demonstrate the greatest similarity with the ceramic collection from the settlement of Vakhrushevskoye 1. The recorded differences between the Karym collection of the settlement and the ceramics from the taiga Ob Region sites make it possible to consider the ceramic complex from the settlement of Vakhrushevskoye 1 as a southern version of antiquities of the Karym stage of the Ob-Irtysh culture.
