Abstract

The purpose of the study is to shed light on the content of working on communicative competence formation among foreign students using a digital textbook (DT) during Russian as a Foreign Language (RFL) classes. The paper considers the notion of “communicative competence”, which is presented as a set of specific competencies. The significance of forming the said competence using DT is emphasised. Scientific novelty of the study lies in developing a new digital textbook “Reading and Speaking Russian” in order to form foreign cadets’ communicative competence at the initial stage of their training. The authors note the important role of the nonlinear form of training material organisation, which ensures a high degree of motivation, as well as interest in the learning process, enhancing independent learning of the Russian language. As a result of the study, the researchers have highlighted the main aspects of working on communicative competence formation; have developed effective types of tasks taking into account the principles of visualisation, interactivity, authenticity; have identified methods and techniques of working with DT.
