Abstract
The purpose of this study was an analysis on basic psychological needs according to the stage of change in exercise behavior of adolescences. Subjects of this study were 464 middle and high school students in Busan. The means of measurement used were the stage of change in exercise behavior scale, basic psychological needs scale. Data were analyzed using by Chi-square test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan`s multiple range as statical method. The level of significance of all hypotheses tested was 5% and the result were as follows. There was significant difference between girls` and boys` stages of change in exercise behavior and middle and high school students. Most girls` and high school students were in the precontemplation and contemplation stage. There were difference in autonomy, competence and relatedness between sex distinction according to the stage of change in exercise behavior. And there were differences in autonomy, competence and relatedness between middle school students according to the stage of change in exercise behavior. But there were not differences in relatedness between high school students according to the stage of change in exercise behavior.
