Abstract

THE RESEARCH aims mainly to study the economic efficiency of using resourcesin producing sugar beet in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, and to estimate the optimalvolume of production and its bulk of profits. The research relied on published and unpublishedsecondary data and field data for a random sample that was collected during the 2019/2020production season, using a personal interview questionnaire, using a descriptive and inferentialanalysis of the data and estimating some indicators of productive and economic efficiency.Theresults indicated that there is an effect of each area, human labor, nitrogen fertilizer, phosphatefertilizer, potassium fertilizer and the value of pesticides on sugar beet production in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, as indicated by the estimation of the functions of sugar beet costs in KafrEl-Sheikh Governorate that the optimal volume of production for the three groups, respectively24.50, 24.2 and 24.75 and the optimum capacity, respectively, is 1.05, 1.25 and 1.54 acres, andthe volume of maximum production profits was estimated at 25.05, 25.4 and 25.55 tons / acre. The necessity of rationalizing the use of potassium fertilizer for the first category fields, as itbecame clear that increasing this resource by 10% would lead to a decrease in productivity byabout 1.6% of it due to its negative marginal productivity.Working to rationalize the use ofhuman labor for the second category farmers, as it was found that an increase in human laborby 10% leads to a decrease of 4.9% in the output.Rationalizing the use of potassium fertilizers, the value of pesticides, as it was found that increasing each of them by about 10% leads to adecrease in the output by 18.3% and 8.6%.
