Abstract
We report a case of a fifty-seven year-old male with laryngeal saccular cyst. The patient complained of an abnormal feeling in his throat.Fiberscopic examination demonstrated a swelling of the false cord and laryngeal ventricle. CT-scan showed the presence of three masses located deep in the thyroid cartilage from the level of the hyoid to the false cord. The masses were removed completely by an external approach without tracheotomy under general anesthesia. Normal sensation was restored after surgery, and the patient's postoperative course was uneventful. There has been no recurrence for fifteen months to date. Based on these findings, the diagnosis was established as lateral saccular cyst. Reports of saccular cyst are not uncommon in foreign literature, but are rare in Japan.
