Abstract

The structure, morphology, IR spectra, as well as luminescence spectra and luminescence excitation spectra of europium-doped borates formed during the interaction of lanthanum and indium oxides with a potassium tetraborate melt at 970 °С have been studied. With an increase in the In3+ concentration in the batch, a sequential change of the following structural states is observed: single-phase LaBO3 aragonite, LaBO3 aragonite + InBO3 calcite, single-phase InBO3 calcite. The correspondence between the structure and spectral characteristics of these compounds has been established. It is shown that indium and lanthanum orthoborates do not form joint solid solutions.
