Abstract

This study examined the postmodernist knowledge and inventive techniques through the analysis of Choi ‘s last novel, “Memories of’Life”. It examines the kind of challenges escapees are going through, and therefore the author can try and establish what new territories the postmodernists can expand.BR The narrative structure of the works was playful and accidental in that the causal relation of the events was not related to the subordinate syntactic relation and the evoked tales and fairy tales were staged, which corresponded to the postmodern narrative technique. The characters showed the appearance of a systematic abandoner and they seemed to be crushed by the domination of modern grand narratives or trying to escape from it. In the end, criticism of rational giant discourse and dismantling it, were the theme recognition and grammar of the work.BR In “Memory of Life,” the characters crossed the boundaries of time and space, the dead and the living creatures converse, walked along the boundaries of death, invited past, present, and future characters into the same time and space. It has been shaped by the past and present form of a living being.BR This was a complete departure from reason-centered gigantic narrative and epistemology, and instead they were dreaming of becoming ‘being’ of nature. They were able to face reality that human existence was impossible, and ‘existence’ could only be filled with narrative techniques, so tale narrative was introduced into modern narrative.BR At the same time, the fictional narrative and the recognition of the world were leaving the dream of being, the memory of life in it. Where rationality and universal rational meta-narratives were dismantled, the territories of divisive predecessors were being prepared. The reality is still pervasive and pessimistic, and the artist has crossed the boundaries of life, dismantling the meaning of all boundaries in the subcategory and was no longer looking at the existence of reality, the ontology rather than the rational ‘epistemology’. In other words, the place to get away from the rational giant narrative was the place where it could exist as ‘the place where dream of existence can be achieved’.BR Choi InSuk has disseminated postmodernist perceptions by using deconstructive perceptions and narrative techniques against the rationalcentered giant narrative, and by placing the characters of the deconstructive behavior on the front of the works.BR In the point that postmodern narrative does not have a big narrative that totals the discussion, it is the work of the author to dismantle the gigantic narrative and the work of denying the center by deconstructing the ‘dispute’ with the banner. It has been called a representative postmodernist. He was opening a new episteme that would erase the rational language game by dissolving everything in the memories of life as a world awareness and narrative, as if to encompass the dissolution work.
