Abstract

The study highlights the main trends in the percep-tion of ethnopolitical, social and economic process-es by students in the North Caucasus region. The positive and negative aspects of these processes have been identified in the assessments and views of the modern youth in the North Caucasus Federal District. Young people of the North Caucasus are regarded as the main actors of innovative projects on political, social and economic development of the region. They tend to respond most quickly to the ongoing changes and be demanded of ad-dressing the important social problems such as un-employment, territorial disputes, corruption, extrem-ism and radicalism, increased ethnic tension. The study reveals that the customs and traditions of the North Caucasus have a strong impact on political preferences of young people. These preferences are mainly generated in the communication environ-ment and the interaction with their close relatives. In addition, the research examines the views of young people on the causes of ethnic territorial con-flicts in the region and the concept of public policy. The study evaluates their desire to take a more ac-tive part in the political life of society as well. The authors conclude that it is important to work comprehensively with young people to stabilize inter-ethnic relations in the region. It is also neces-sary to promote the development of civil society institutions by involving the younger generation to ensure the social and economic, social and political well-being of the North Caucasus Federal District.
