Abstract

The study takes 1207 research results as its objects of contrastive study between Korean and Chinese languages in China during the past 20 years (from 1999 to May 2019), and makes analysis according to their research ranges and methods etc., thus to make conclusions on research status and to give suggestions for further study. Firstly, platforms such as academic conferences or journals focusing on contrastive study between Korean and Chinese languages are needed, so that latest research results as well as newest theories around related study can be introduced and members can share academic information and hold academic activities in this open space for mutual communications. Secondly, both the extension and the depth of Korean-Chinese contrastive study shall be enhanced, and especially for phonology and parts of speech contrastive study, and more efforts with more systematic research shall be made in order to achieve better language education for both Chinese learners in Korea and Korean learners in China. Finally, at present, related contrastive studies are still proceeded mainly based on linguistic theories originated from Europe or the United States. Therefore, more adaptable theories and methods, which might be more persuasive, are needed for Korean-Chinese contrastive study. The present study calls for more efforts from scholars in contrastive study between Korean and Chinese languages.
