Abstract

The article highlights the peculiarities of forming a competent approach in the modern educational process in order to ensure the integration of students into a modern society, as well as to educate the individual with national consciousness. Furthermore, it also reveals the basic conceptual foundations and practical tools for developing literary reading competence and its components, which are closely related to the development of communicative competence, development of students' skills, usage of Ukrainian language and different types of speech activity, basics of the oral and written language culture. The issue of updating the content of the students’ reading; peculiarities of influence on the development of personality through the themes and genres that form the base of systemic critical thinking are considered. The issues of the literary development of students, their active reading activity on different content lines of the curriculum are emphasized in the article. The author shows the idea of purposeful upbringing of the student-reader, who is aesthetically developed, who has a positive emotional experience and who is able to express his own attitude to the reading and analyse, who’s communication with the book is full of joy and pleasure. The article includes also organization aspects of students’ reading activity forms, the formation of key competencies, including literary competence on the lessons of literary reading under the condition of the usage of methods of critical thinking and competently oriented tasks. In addition, the author highlights the peculiarities of creative cooperative formation between teachers and students, who are equal participants in a cultural dialogue. It includes aspects of introducing of the monographic approach into the cross-cutting themes in the selection and structuring of the educational materials, which provide a compilation of the most important information about the life, work and masterpieces of Ukrainian and foreign writers and give motivation for the reading of their works to be involved in the elementary search of cognitive and local literary work.
