Abstract

SummaryThe purpose of the work is to study the magnitude and structure of sanitary lossesduring the medical support of the Armed Forces (AF) of Ukraine in the context of theanti-terrorist operation and the Joint Forces (ATO/JFO) operation in eastern Ukraine.Materials and methods. Guidance and information documents, as well asstatistical reports and reports on medical care of the AF of Ukraine during theATO/JFO were used. Research methods: historical, systematic approach, statistical, analytical, generalization. The object of research is the system of medical andevacuation measures of medical support of the AF of Ukraine. Subject – the amount andstructure of sanitary losses during medical care of the AF of Ukraine in the context ofATO/JFO.Results. A detailed analysis of the sanitary losses of the AF of Ukraine in the periodfrom April 2014 to March 2015, as the most indicative in terms of the effectiveness ofthe medical system in combat during the ATO/JFO, timeliness and quality of medicalcare battlefields and stages of medical evacuation during the most intense hostilities andthe greatest irreversible and sanitary losses. The dependence of the structure of sanitarylosses on the etiopathogenetic basis on the action of destructive factors of the weaponused by the enemy during the armed conflict has been established. It is noted thataccounting and analysis of the magnitude and structure of irreversible and sanitarylosses of troops during hostilities, as well as their ratio makes it possible to assess thecompliance of forces and means of medical service tasks assigned to it and its ability toperform assigned tasks. It is argued that in terms of medical support of militaryoperations, the main indicative mesure in the planning of medical support is theprojected sanitary losses, and their size and structure are quantitative and qualitativeindicators of the process of planning and management of medical support.Conclusions. Careful accounting and analysis of the magnitude, structure and ratioof irreversible and sanitary losses makes it possible to assess the effectiveness of themedical care system of troops and the timeliness and quality of medical care for thewounded. Forecasting the size and structure of sanitary losses makes it possible to planthe necessary set of forces and means of medical service when planning the medicalsupport of troops, to determine the order of deployment of levels of medical support(stages of medical evacuation) to provide the necessary medical care.
