Abstract

This study examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the state and economic growth rates of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. The study uses statistical data for the period of 2020-2021. The main directions of the study of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region are: prospects for economic growth in the region, recovery of economic activity, forecasts for the future state of the region and applied economic solutions. The study examines statistical indicators of the economic activity of the region in recent years, taking into account forecasts for 2022. The policy pursued by the countries of the region and the most favorable economic measures in the conditions of the pandemic are explained. Next, the automation of the region is considered: its pace, impact on the economy, interaction with the labor market and further forecasts for it. In this part of the study, the impact of the pandemic on the Gini coefficient is analyzed and the problem of increasing income inequality of the population is considered. The problem of the introduction of automated networks both in the production process and in the retail process is also considered; the pros and cons of the effect of this process on the spheres of the economy. Next, the main factors of MNEs' influence on the Asia-Pacific economy and the strategic actions they apply are considered. The influence of multinational enterprises on the region is considered from the point of view of applying various strategic decisions in the short, medium and long term. Due to the fleeting changes in the situation in the countries of the Asia-Pacific region at the height of the pandemic, most enterprises paid special attention to short-term strategic decisions in order to stabilize the operational process. The fact that a significant share of the world's electronics and technology production is based in the Asia-Pacific region has had a significant impact on the global economy. The main short-term strategic solutions are: improving crisis management; adjusting business plans and setting up sales channels. Medium-term: development of a digital supply chain based on demand; diversification of sales channels; revision of the global strategy of companies. Long-term: investments to create new digital opportunities. In conclusion, the activity of the largest high-tech multinational corporations in the region is described.
